Olivia Dunne tweeted to her fans asking them "to please be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community" after they caused a scene at LSU's season opener against Utah last Friday.
Dunne, who has been called the most "influential college athlete" boasts 2 million Instagram followers and 6.7 million followers on TikTok. In her tweet last Friday night, she addresses the chaos her fans caused and pleaded with them to tone down their excitement at future events.
I will always appreciate and love the support from you guys, but if you come to a meet, I want to ask you to please be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community as we are just doing our job

If you're wondering why so many young men are foaming at the mouth to see a gymnastics competition, we have a simple answer, they're underwhelmingly under-socialized. Look at those faces and tell me these young boys are there for anything other than their own self-indulgence.
This is actually so scary and disturbing and cringey. I’m embarrassed for them… pic.twitter.com/h23bBdBQ9B

Samantha Peszek, an Olympic medalist and former NCAA Champion, called the mob of young boys, "disturbing and cringey."
These Livvy- obsessed boys have zero respect. Disgusting. pic.twitter.com/QIgGnSJMaN

The group of young men forced the LSU team bus to take a separate exit and allegedly accosted fellow gymnasts who weren't Olivia barking, "you aren't Livvy, but you will do" demanding they take pictures with them. Police were stationed outside the arena to ensure the mob of boys didn't make it inside, however, if your gymnast idol has to tweet about your lack of respect, it might be time to do some soul-searching.
